Hebrews 12:1-4 (NLT) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. Let us run with endurance (its a process) the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish; He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy He knew would be His afterward. Now He is seated in the place of highest honor beside God’s throne in heaven. Think about all He endured when sinful people did such terrible things to Him, so that you don’t become weary and give up. After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.
Jesus overcame the struggles of the cross, because He had faith (knew and believed) the Love and Promises of our Heavenly Father. He took on the punishment for the sin of humanity; He paid the price with His shed blood. He yielded to death (separation from God the Father, who IS Life) so that we who believe, may forever remain connected to our God. This is The story of Love and redemption: our Heavenly Father allowed His only Begotten Son to pay a price we could not pay, to restore humanity to Himself (Jesus The Christ restored believers to our rightful place, position, or status in our Creator God).
We must choose to believe that Jesus died in humanities’ behalf, and accept the victory that He won for us as our own. We must we take Him at His Word, utilizing the graces, gifts, tools, wisdom that He teaches us to walk in. In doing so, we are positioned and equipped to overcome every lie and attack of the devil. We must allow our God’s Love, Word, and Holy Spirit power to separate us from sin, fear and shame, or anything that would keep us from enjoying the precious life that Jesus purchased for us with His shed blood and death. We are astronomically expensive, priceless to our God (I Corinthians 6:20); He loves us with height, depth, and width that we will not understand until we see Him. Think about it, our Heavenly Father believes we are worth the price He paid in Jesus His Christ.
Faith to be dead to sin
Faith to be alive to His Love
Galatians 2:17b-21 (NLT) I have been crucified with Christ. I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. So I live my life in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I am not one of those who treats the grace of God as meaningless.
Grace is our God’s gift of loving help; He does for us what we cannot do for ourselves, because of His Love towards us. The law is also a gift to us, so that we might be made aware of our sin (Romans 7:7). We know that in and of ourselves, we are unable to keep the law. If we break one law, we are guilty of all the law. Being made aware of our sin, and inability to keep the law, we must repent and return to God, and His ways. He and His Christ are our only hope.
Our loving God provided the way back to His Life, Love, mercy, forgiveness, and grace, using the spiritual substance of faith in the work He performed in Jesus. We must recognize that our Heavenly Father allowed Jesus to suffer for the sin of all humanity so that we could be forgiven through His suffering (Isaiah 53). Give careful attention to Jesus The Christ and the work God did through Him at Calvary. It is there we find the ability to live our lives to the fullest. (Foundation Scriptures: Galatians 3:1-14; Romans 5)
The Just Shall Live by Faith
Our God works His Righteousness (right way of thinking, speaking, and behaving) into our lives, as we trust Him, His Word, and do as He instructs. This process is revealed in the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus The Christ. Jesus trusted our God’s Love, authority, and power to be and do that which was impossible for Him on His own (He, the Word of God, emptied out of His deity and live by the Word that proceeded from our Heavenly Father). This is the revelation that caused our Apostle Paul to declare:
Romans 1:16-17 (NKJV) 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
We have to trust our God’s Love, authority and power, as we walk through tests, trials, opposition (stress, fear, temptation to quit, stumbling, falling…). Our God promises to reveal Himself, to all who believe and honor His Word and Holy Spirit, with compliance to His will. He oversees His promises to bring them to pass in our lives. He promises to rescue, deliver, heal, restore, provide, … Hallelujah! He cannot lie; His promises (as revealed in Jesus The Christ) are “Yes and Amen!”
We Must Trust Our God with Our Present
Our God, the Heavenly Father is for us TODAY. He loves us TODAY. He reveals that part of His nature through Jesus, and His precious Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Psalms 42:1 (KJV) God is our refuge and strength, a very present(always here) help in trouble.
The priests of old entered into the Holy of Holies once a year for the sins of the people. Jesus is PRESENTLY seated at the right of the Father in heaven, always there to intercede for us. He understands the things we go through; He experienced life on earth, as a human. (Hebrews 9, Romans 4:14-16). WE MUST BELIEVE OUR GOD’S LOVE.
We must trust our God with our past
Matthew 10:29-31 (NLT) Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. The very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to Him than a whole flock of sparrows.
Our God is concerned about our personal welfare (Psalm 23). We must believe God is able to take care of us, the same way He protected the first born of the Israelites from the angel of death by painting the blood over the doorposts. We have to use our words to paint the shed blood of Jesus over our lives and belongings, and trust God. Sometimes we are angry, or disappointed with God because of things that have happened to us or our loved ones in the past. Paul gave us so wonderful advice:
Philippians 3:12-14 (KJV) Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Sometimes we miss out on the wonderful things that God has in store for us by spending our thought life on things in the past. No matter what is in our past, or the past of others, Jesus Christ suffered and died that we all can be free. Our Heavenly Father’s predestined will and Word raised Him us to show all of creation His sovereignty. Now He has given us His Word (Scripture/Jesus) and His Holy Spirit to do to, for, and through us the things we cannot do for ourselves. WE MUST BELIEVE OUR GOD’S LOVE.
We must trust our God with our futures
Undue concern about the future is worry. We must trust God to bring us to victory, just as He displayed in Christ Jesus.
Psalms 37:5 (KJV) Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths.
Proverbs 16:3 (NLT) Commit your work to the LORD, and then your plans will succeed.
We make be secure in our futures in our God and His Christ. We make plans and pray. We share the plans we make with our God, and let Him know we desire to do His will above all, and we are open and willing to do what He desires. We ask Him to make us sensitive to His leading. We trust His Love and work in Christ, as He performs what He promises. Our God is unchanging; He has always loved us and He always will.
Hebrews 77:24-25 (NLT) But Jesus remains a priest forever; His priesthood will never end. Therefore He is able, once and forever, to save (heal, deliver, set free, restore), everyone who comes to God through him. He lives forever to plead with God on their behalf.
We must cast all care on The God Who cared for Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
We must first talk to the One with the ability to solve our problems, and give us peace while we wait for change (in us or the situation). We must not feel guilty when we have peace, while everyone else is running around in drama. Our quiet spirit is evidence that we have entered into pure faith, pure rest in our God.
We are not alone in this fight!
I Peter 5: 7-9(NLT) Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you. Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour. Take a firm stand against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.
SHOCKER!!!! The devil wants us to think we are the only ones going through what we are going through. We are not ignorant of his tricks and schemes! We pray for others, knowing they are struggling too. As we do, our God grants new strength and greater revelation to solve more problems!
Give Him all burdens, weights, and cares
Psalms 55:22(NLT) Give your burdens to the LORD, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
What is a burden? Something that weights your down. We find the promise that God has made that pertains to the struggle, then we do what we believe our God would have us do we, and roll all concern for the remainder over on our God, our Heavenly Father (Hebrews 12:1-2). We must trust Him to do what we, and others we have trusted in, have failed to do, even against all odds. He is our God of the impossible. WE MUST BELIEVE OUR GOD’S LOVE.
We have new DNA in Jesus The Christ!
II Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) says Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Before we knew Christ we struggled endlessly with wickedness, now that we know that we have power over all wickedness, as we press in, following the Way of Jesus The Christ. Like Him, we are able to overcome the crosses we face in life by believing and obeying the Word of our God. The devil uses his weapon of deception, continually trying to convince us that we are not who the Word of God says we are, that we cannot do what the Word of God says we can do, and that we cannot have what the Word of God says we can have; he is The Liar.
Revelation 12:9-11 tells us that we overcome the deception of the devil by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, (which redeemed us from the penalty of sin), the word of our testimony (God’s Word in our hearts, spoken with our mouths), and not loving our lives unto death, (being willing to be as dead to our old ways and beliefs and alive to the Word of the Living God.) We must purpose in our hearts to continually cast away all shame, fear and guilt, and doubt. WE MUST BELIEVE OUR GOD’S LOVE.
Our God’s Love Speaks to Us!
Jeremiah 29:11-14(NLT) For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me in earnest, you will find Me when you seek me. I will be found by you,” says the LORD. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes.
Let our hearts reply to Him:
Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We must have faith in our God’s Love and His Work in Christ!
