Watchmen all over the world, I awoke this morning with 1 Peter 4:14-18 on my mind:
(KJV) 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
What a sobering passage of Scripture. I read the Old Testament and see the children of Israel responding to the God of our salvation in very flippant ways. I look around today and realize that, in truth, we, His people has not changed much. We are just as rebellious today, as those who have gone before us. Like Israel, we are doing what is right in our own eyes.
Still, as surely as our God is God, He comes to rescue when we repent and trust Him. He knows we are no match for satan or sin-tainted flesh without Him. Praise Him, we need never be without Him. Hallelujah!
Watchmen all over the world, let us remain faithful to cry out in behalf of God’s people. Let us do so for every human being. As darkness appears to spread like cancer, let us be faithful to declare the Light and Fire of our God, that exposes and consumes the works of the enemy of our souls and pulls down demonic strongholds and wicked high places in the systems of the world.
We must Have Peace and Trust God as We Pray
Our God judges with right and loving judgment, and those who have an ear, hear and obey. For those who turn a deaf ear, correction will surely come; know this and be at peace. Remember those who look forward to Jesus The Christ return and love our God’s correction, rejoice at His loving conviction; know this and be at peace.
A Cry for the Cleansing, for the Purifying of the Church
I share a prayer for the cleansing of our God’s church, that was given to me after pondering 1 Peter 4:14-18:
Thank You Heavenly Father. We recognize and honor Your value in our lives. Your ways are perfect. Your knowledge and power are unlimited. You are Love and You are Light of our lives. In You is no shadow of turning, no variableness. You are consistently the same. Like Jesus Christ, we want to express who You are in the earth. We depend on Your unfailing love, unmerited favor and merciful grace to do so. Send Your conviction to households of faith and the hearts of Your people, so that we represent You properly in the earth, so that we do not experience Your wrath, like children of disobedience.
Father, expose and forgive us for all that we do and have done to displease You. Help us to be real with our own selves and call sin, sin in our lives. Shine Your light and show us every area that we are not like You. Help us to rejoice without condemnation, knowing it is Your will that we be transformed and conformed to the image of Jesus The Christ.
Expose and forgive us for all pride. Convict us of thinking of ourselves more highly than we should, of comparing ourselves with others, of competing with others. From pride comes prejudice and hatred and all manner of cruelty. You said we are all wonderfully and fearfully made, and You have given us each give the measure of faith to succeed with You. Teach us to faithfully pray and desire the best for one another.
Expose and forgive us for all greed. Convict us when we become greedy, when we crave for more than we are prepared to steward, for lusting after things that You know we do not need, things that will lead to self-destruction.
Expose and forgive us for all envy and strife. Convict us of envy and jealousy, when we resent the good others have or receive; send strong correction when we use our tongues or behavior to disrupt or hinder the blessings of others. Jealousy and envy bring about speech and actions that are cruel as the grave. This is the work of satan, and contrary to Your heart, mind and will. Forgive us. Anoint and grace us the more to overcome envy and jealousy.
Expose and forgive us for ungodly anger. You said be angry but sin not. Convict us when we allow ourselves to be annoyed with others and respond in hostile, cruel, demeaning ways. Forgive us; help us to exemplify you with our speech and behavior.
Expose and forgive for all gluttony: Convict us when we go beyond nature limits in the consumption of the pleasures this life has to offer, knowing it disrupts our natural balance and destroys our spiritual peace and comfort. Forgive us and guide us into the victory over all gluttony.
Expose and forgive us for all lust: Convict us of lusting after the things this world. Help us to use things and not allow things to use us. Keep us from the self-destructive drive of lust. Fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit power to conquer all.
Expose and forgive us for all slothfulness: Convict us of slothfulness, show us where we have allowed the enemy to convince us that serving You is not worth the effort of capturing our thoughts and speech, to arrive on time, to do that which You show us, in the excellence You would have us do it. Help Father. We know You will.
Show us where we are falling short so we can repent and yield to Your Potter’s wheel. Thank You for the power in Your Word to change our lives. Thank You for the help of Your Holy Spirit.
Father, we desire Your will to be done today and Your kingdom come today in the earth, as it is in heaven. You desire that all men be saved, that all men come to the knowledge of the truth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We trust to see Your hand moving in the land of the living. Thank You for correcting us with Your loving Truth and merciful hand, in Jesus name we pray. AMEN!
